ELMHURST – Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (EMHC) received approval today from the State of Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to proceed with plans to redevelop the Elmhurst Memorial Addison Health Center. During the Planning Board’s meeting in Chicago, members voted unanimously to grant EMHC a Certificate of Need, which is required by state law before construction can begin on major healthcare projects.
Construction will begin this fall a new 55,000-square-foot facility that will be located on the same property as the current building at 303 W. Lake Street. The new Elmhurst Memorial Addison Health Center is scheduled to open in fall 2011.
“Addison has always been an important community for Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, and we are pleased to be able to offer enhanced services and continued access to quality medical care in that area,” said Leo Fronza, EMHC president and chief executive officer. “This project will benefit the community for years to come.”
The redeveloped Elmhurst Memorial Addison Health Center will include enhanced services such as more physician office space, expanded laboratory services, radiology and immediate care. During construction of the new building, the current facility will remain open.
