What is an Obstetrician?
Obstetricians are concerned with the treatment of women during pregnancy, labor, childbirth and the time after childbirth. They work to optimize the health of the mother and her baby.
The Obstetrics/Gynecology department at the Elmhurst Clinic has special training to offer on the following obstetrics issues:
- Pre-pregnancy counseling
- Care for normal and complicated pregnancies, such as those involving diabetes, hypertension, twins, pre-term labor, bleeding complications, etc.
- In-hospital care during labor and delivery
- Postpartum (after delivery) care for mothers
- Evaluation for postpartum mood disorders
