Pediatric Cardiology
Heart disease doesn’t just happen to adults. Happily, most children begin life healthy and stay that way, but eight out of every 1,000 children are born with heart problems and others may develop or acquire heart disease later in childhood.
The good news is that the Elmhurst Clinic has a contractual relationship with pediatric cardiologists from the Mayo Clinic, which has been treating heart disease in children and adolescents for more than 50 years. Mayo Clinic physicians and scientists have contributed many new developments in the treatment of these diseases, among them helping to create the subspecialty of pediatric cardiology.
